What do Terminator, RoboCop, Darth Vader and Iron Man have in common? They are all cyborgs. People who are made faster and stronger with machine parts. And those who think they only appear in science fiction films are wrong.
Herman van der Kooij (ET), a biomechatronic engineer at the University of Twente, actually makes these kinds of mechanical parts for people. And we are testing them out. With him, we answer the question: can we turn ourselves into superhumans with machine parts? After all, that scenario is closer than you think. At the same time, elsewhere on campus, we ask philosopher Jan Peter Bergen (BMS) whether converting people into cyborgs is a good idea. His answer might surprise you....
